An intense battle of wits is at the core of much-anticipated ITV1 mystery Gone. Written by Hijack co-creator George Kay, the six-parter sees Sherwood star David Morrissey play Michael Polly, the headmaster of a prestigious Bristol private school, who finds himself under suspicion when his wife, Sarah, vanishes.

Struck by Michael’s apparent lack of emotion, DS Annie Cassidy (Keeping Faith’s Eve Myles) is convinced that his controlling approach at work may have extended beyond the job. Can she prove her theory, or is Michael, as he suggests, being framed? TV Times caught up with Eve, 47, who is always a lovely interviewee, to get more clues…

What makes Annie so suspicious of Michael?
A red flag goes up because he says he knew something was wrong straight away, yet it takes him until the next day to report his wife missing. But what makes Annie dig deeper is how closed-off this man is; his behaviour is incredibly unusual, almost robotic. For Annie, who is so human and warm, to observe somebody so cold and unforgiving is thrilling – and it’s something to conquer.
