GEORGE RAINSFORD on visiting Kembleford and life after Casualty

- HANNAH DAVIES

Lights, camera, MURDER!

FATHER BROWN FRIDAY, 2PM, BBC1 DRAMA

George Rainsford has been nonstop since he hung up his stethoscope as Casualty consultant Ethan Hardy three years ago.

The Yorkshire-born actor has tread the boards across the UK as Detective Superintendent Roy Grace in stage versions of Peter James’ novels Wish You Were Dead and Picture You Dead, as well as plays 2:22 A Ghost Story and Dear England.

But now he is back on our screens in this week’s penultimate episode in the current 13th run of BBC1 period drama Father Brown. George plays advert director Ron Sanderson, who’s in the (fictional) Cotswold village of Kembleford to shoot a TV commercial for washing powder but things take a sinister twist when Hollywood star Katherine Vale (Debra Stephenson) is found dead in a twin-tub. Can crime-solving cleric Father Brown (Mark Williams) crack the case?

In an exclusive interview, George, 43, tells TV Times why he relished the role…
