From Basil Rathbone's pipe-puffing gent to Benedict Cumberbatch's high-speed genius, Sherlock Holmes has been continually reinvented. Now, Scottish star Robert Carlyle is picking up the magnifying glass for Season 2 of medical-mystery drama Watson.
The modern-day twist on Arthur Conan Doyle's tale follows Pittsburgh-based, rare-disease investigator Dr John Watson (Morris Chestnut), who begins the new 20-episode run dealing with difficult family dynamics when the mother of his ex, Dr Mary Morstan (Rochelle Aytes), accidentally poisons herself while suffering from a rare form of dementia.
