A new documentary profiles The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy creator Douglas Adams

Few authors have been responsible for such a cult phenomenon as Douglas Adams with his comedy sci-fi franchise The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which spawned a TV series, comic books, stage shows and a 2005 film. Now, the story of Adams' spectacular career and troubled personal life is told in Sky Arts documentary Douglas Adams: The Man Who Imagined Our Future.

Born in Cambridge in 1952, Adams was struggling to get his writing career off the ground in London in the early 1970s and had to work as a bodyguard to make ends meet.
