Taylor Swift's Tour Targeted in Terrorist Plot

A thwarted terrorist attack ended in Taylor Swift canceling three of her Eras Tour shows at Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna.

On Aug. 7 the concert promoter Barracuda Music announced that it had “no choice but to cancel” her Aug. 8-10 performances—which would have drawn an estimated 200,000 fans—to prioritize the safety of attendees.

Three suspects, who intended to use explosives and knives to cause mass casualties, according to authorities, have been arrested. “The suspects had very specific and detailed plans to cause a tragedy on the scale of Paris, Manchester or Moscow,” Austrian Chancellor Karl Nehammer said during an Aug. 8 news conference, referring to atrocities including the 2017 bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in England that killed 22 people and injured more than 100.
