Brooke Shields 'I Want My Family Around Me'

Brooke Shields is talking with People about her family when, as if on cue, her daughter Rowan, 20, FaceTimes. "Oh boy. Hold on one second," she says. Shields's unmistakable smile spreads across her face as she answers: "Can I call you right back, my love?"

The sweet moment is the perfect unintentional tie-in for her new Netflix movie Mother of the Bride, a comedy that's as much about a parent's devotion as it is about romantic connection. Shields, 58, plays Lana Winslow, a widowed doctor whose daughter (Miranda Cosgrove) gets engaged to the son (Sean Teale) of her former college flame (Benjamin Bratt). Lana only figures out her ex is a soon to be in-law at the destination wedding in Thailand, where she has to put her feelings aside to make sure her daughter has the perfect day.

The actress and producer, who shares Rowan and daughter Grier, 18, with her husband of 23 years, producer Chris Henchy, 60, chatted about motherhood, marriage and new beginnings.

This movie looked like a blast to film-a group of friends and family hanging out at a resort in Thailand!
