Ace makeup artist Laura Mercier's beauty brand has landed on Indian shores. She spoke to us about her journey as a makeup artist and what led her to launch her eponymous brand. Edited excerpts from the interview...

You started out by going to art school first; tell us what made you switch.

While I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do after finishing art school, I knew that I loved beauty. That love of beauty led me to move to Paris and enrol in an aesthetician school. It was there that I met Thibault Vabre. At the time, he was a makeup artist to many celebrities, while also serving as an instructor at my aesthetician school.

What lessons did you learn during your apprenticeship with Thibault Vabre?
