Of the many disturbing moments in Netflix’s true-crime series Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, about the ghoulish murders of American serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer, it was

a court room scene that most upset Rita Isbell. Isbell is the sister of one of Dahmer’s victims and the scene depicted her victim impact statement that culminated in her screaming at the killer in court.

“If I didn’t know any better, I would’ve thought it was me,” Isbell told Insider of actress DaShawn Barnes, who portrays her in the series. “Her hair was like mine, she had on the same clothes. That’s why it felt like reliving it all over again. It brought back all the emotions I was feeling back then.”

Since its release on September 21, Dahmer, which became Netflix’s mostwatched series in its opening week, has gripped audiences with its depiction of the life and crimes of the notorious serial killer – but opened old wounds for the loved ones of his victims.
