Angela Bassett is timeless, but Just Like Us, she doesn’t always feel it. “You wake up, and it’s like, ‘Oh, my ankles,” says the legendary actress, who turned 67 on Aug. 16. And so the star of ABC’s 9-1-1 (back on Oct. 9) recently signed up for boxing lessons. “You got to keep moving,” she tells Us. “Use it or lose it!” Here’s more Bassett wisdom.

What's the greatest lesson you've learned in your 60s so far?

One of my favorite sayings is: “You can’t dance to every record, so wait for your jam, then get off.” Let some things pass you on by. That’s fine. Preserve your peace.
