When Ava meets with Betty, the shady nanny, Betty issues a not-so-subtle threat against Ava’s mother, Delia. “The idea that Betty, who is a dangerous person, is going to be around Avery, is really concerning to her,” begins Ava’s portrayer, Maura West. “And that they even know who her biological mother is just proves to her that these people are manipulative and devious and unpredictable and that’s alarming to Ava, for sure.”
