‘It was mindblowing for my kids to see me with Girls Aloud’

Pop star and presenter Kimberley Walsh shares the magic of taking her sons on tour, and how she finds peace with a paintbrush in hand

Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh is one busy lady. As well as her music career, she’s a mum-of-three, a presenter on BBC's Morning Live and has been renovating the home she shares with Justin Scott, 42, her husband of nine years, and their sons – Bobby, 10, Cole, eight, and Nate, four.

Here, the 43-year-old from Bradford talks about her passion for interior design as she launches her latest paint colour with Wickes. She also tells us what it was like to honour her late bandmate Sarah Harding’s memory at the group’s triumphant reunion concerts last summer, and fills us in on the joy of bringing her children on tour to enjoy a bit of the pop star life.

Hi, Kimberley! Girls Aloud have given fans great memories over the years. How does that feel?

Ah, that’s so lovely to hear. I think people were having a really good time at our reunion concerts, and it was the perfect memory of Sarah. That was the focus – how do we keep that beautiful feeling flowing throughout the show, so it feels like Sarah’s with us? I think we achieved that. We just tried to bring it back to her whenever possible and give everybody time to reminisce and celebrate her. There was always that lump-inthe-throat moment every night but we all needed to take that minute. So, hard as it was, I loved that part of the show.

How was it for your kids, seeing their mum and the other Girls Aloud members performing on a huge stage?
