PLASTICS REAL PROBLEM FOR PROSTATES

MICROPLASTIC particles were found in nine out of 10 patients with prostate cancer, a pilot study conducted by a team at NYU Langone Health found. The team analyzed tissue samples from 10 patients with prostate cancer and found plastic particles in 90 percent of tumor samples and 70 percent of benign tissue samples.

They also discovered the cancerous tissue contained on average 2.5 times the amount of plastic as the healthy prostate tissue samples — about 40 micrograms of plastic per gram of tissue compared with 16 micrograms per gram.
