Prop plane crashes onto Texas highway

MOTORISTS in south Texas were in for a big shock when a small prop plane crash-landed and split in two on a highway in the middle of the afternoon on Dec. 11.

Driver Tony Poynor says he heard the sound of the doomed aircraft very close to him before it came into view.

“To the left of me you start seeing on the wall a shadow of this plane,” he recalls. “Then it passed over the top of my truck. And it’s still horizontal at this point, then about a quarter of a mile in front of me it starts to wobble.”
