Sarah Ferguson, King Charles III and Princess Kate are all simultaneously dealing with medical issues - and it's put a strain on their family

On Jan. 22, Sarah Ferguson shared upsetting news on Instagram. “I have been diagnosed with malignant melanoma, a form of skin cancer, my second cancer diagnosis within a year after I was diagnosed with breast cancer this summer,” the Duchess of York, 64, wrote while also thanking her medical team and advising her followers to stay vigilant about screenings. “I’m in good spirits and grateful for the many messages of love and support.”

Though Fergie is taking things in stride, she became the third member of the royal family to announce an unexpected medical setback in merely a handful of days. On Jan. 17, Kensington Palace revealed that Princess Kate would be in the hospital for up to two weeks following “successful” abdominal surgery — and her at-home recuperation would keep her away from official duties until after Easter. That same day, it was revealed that King Charles III would be taking time off, too, to undergo corrective surgery on an enlarged prostate.

“The royal family is going through a health crisis! There’s been one hit after another, and it just feels like it’s never-ending,” shares an insider. “The timing is awful.”
