Jodie Foster, now in her sixties, tells of her reinvention as an actress and director

Jodie Foster has entered a new chapter in her life - and she couldn’t be happier.

In a candid reflection on her career, the star has revealed that she has been relishing life since turning 60.

“I'm enjoying this last act,” said Jodie, 62. “Well, I don’t know if it is my last act, but I’m enjoying this particular act of my career more than ever.”

Speaking at an intimate press gathering at the Toronto International Film Festival to promote her new film, A Private Life, the Oscar-winning actress described her fifties as “difficult”, but added that the years since have been incredible.

“I think every woman finds their fifties difficult,” she said. “You don’t know who you're supposed to be and the culture doesn’t have good references for who you're supposed to be as an actor.”
