INDIA'S MATERIAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT MARKET POISED FOR STRONG RISE
The Machinist
|December 2025
From forklifts to racking systems, India's material-handling gear is set to grow from US$ 5.4 billion to US$ 8.7 billion by 2030.
-
In a country constantly on the move, building cities, warehouses and supply-chains, the machinery that lifts, shifts and stores materials is quietly becoming a star player. According to a recent outlook from Grand View Research, India's material-handling equipment (MHE) market generated about US$ 5.4 billion in revenue in 2023, and is expected to grow to roughly US$ 8.7 billion by 2030. That represents a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 7.2% from 2024 to 2030.
What does this mean in everyday terms? It means that the forklifts, cranes, racking systems and continuous-handling conveyors in Indian factories and warehouses won't just be more numerous — they will be smarter, more efficient and tailored for India's ambitious growth story. In 2023 the largest share of the market came from the "cranes & lifting equipment" segment, while the fastest growth was being seen in "racking & storage equipment".
