I grew up in a middle-class Bengali family, with an ambition to do something out of the box.

In the year 2007 I was just 24 years old, when I decided to make my dream come true to start a real estate venture, despite our family having no history of doing business.

My father used to serve at a private sector company before it eventually closed during my student days. It was not an ideal beginning for this venture. But I was determined to go ahead with my plan. What triggered this move was that though I had chosen to pursue engineering in college days I quit during the second year as I had to support my family financially. I began my moves by first joining my cousin's construction firm as a supervisor- cum- non investing partner.

Sree Balaji, which I launched in 2007 started its first project in Garia – Mahamayatalla, an extension of the south Kolkata area, with a standalone G + 4 building featuring eight flats. We sold the first flat at Rs. 700 / sq.ft. Additionally, I finished a project named BALAJI TWIN where the last unit sold at Rs. 6000 / sq.ft just two years ago.

I learnt in the most painful way how venturing into real estate development at that time was very tricky indeed. For one, the availability of right information was extremely rare, so delivering an excellent finished product was a huge challenge. To make matters even more difficult, the reliability of builders was also quite questionable, and, neither was the socio- economic environment at the time conducive for a newbie to enter the field, compared to what it is today.

Success has followed Sree Balaji in every step forward and 11 projects have been handed over successfully in just 18 years. Sree Balaji is the only brand that offers affordable second homes to the buyers and that too in the most desirable locations in Bengal and Odisha.
