The timing of onion sowing is critical

To illustrate the importance of knowing when it’s the best time to sow onions, a dehydration factory I once worked for had employed a professional to determine the best practices for optimum production in the area where the dehydration onions were grown.

One of his objectives was to determine the best sowing date for the variety that was being used. The ideal sowing date can vary between varieties. After trials over a number of years, it was determined that the optimum sowing date for this variety was 9 March.
