Facelift Isuzu D-Max finally arrives with a surprise

The facelifted Isuzu D-Max has finally been introduced to South Africa and while the upgrades are subtle, there is a surprise under the bonnet, The Citizen's Charl Bosch reports.

Spanning 33 derivatives, the facelift bakkie's local introduction was delayed due to a compulsory three-year waiting time after going on sale in its home market in Thailand.

It retains the same three body-style options as before, however, more emphasis has been placed on the single and extended cab. As such, the extended cab gains three new models and the single cab two.

On the double cab, the X-Rider has once again been made available with the 3ℓ turbodiesel engine, last offered on the previous generation D-Max.

STYLING TWEAKS

As before, five trim levels are offered: an unbadged base grade reserved solely for the single cab, L, LS, X-Rider, LSE and the V-Cross, once again reserved for the double cab.
