From Books to Business Amish Tripathi's Leap into the World of Gaming
Entrepreneur magazine
|November 2025
From being a bestselling author to a cultural entrepreneur, Amish is moving Indic storytelling into gaming, technology, and global entrepreneurial imagination.
For more than a decade, Amish Tripathi has redefined how India reads mythology. He is the fastest-selling author in Indian publishing history, and his Shiva Trilogy and Ram Chandra Series have not only entertained readers, but also reignited a cultural movement around Indian storytelling.
But today, this bestselling author has shifted into entrepreneurship; the latest iteration of Tripathi's journey is more than books and bestseller lists. It is about creating interactive digital experiences from India's ancient stories; in short, he has transformed from being a storyteller to a cultural entrepreneur - combining mythology, creativity, and modern-day business thinking.
THE STORYTELLER
Amish believes that creativity and commerce are no longer parallel worlds. “Somewhere in my books, I was an entrepreneur,” he says. “The way the world is today, you cannot just be a creative person and leave everything else to your publisher or filmmaker. You have to be closely involved, because then you can ensure your books and movies actually generate revenue, that you can make a living from it and implement things the way you would like.”
For him, entrepreneurship isn't a shift, it's an evolution. “Being an entrepreneur gives you freedom of action on your end. You cannot be just creative for the sake of it, you have to be part of the business too,” he adds. The blend of creativity and accountability has been the foundation for his modern creative philosophy.
