A new dawn in Goa!

With the historic touchdown of the first scheduled passenger flight in Mopa Airport on January 5, Goa's tourism and real estate industries are all wheels up for a steep climb and all-round development of the region.

Mopa's Manohar Airport(MIA) International in Goa is going to be M operational on January 5 with the landing and take-off of the first scheduled passenger flight. It is one of Western India's most anticipated projects, and rightly so. The current Dabolim Airport in Goa has been underserving the region. Neither it does have the requisite infrastructure nor scalability. With the GMR-built MIA, these problems will soon be a thing of the past. Analysts are expecting an influx of tourists to the entire Konkan belt. The result will be an overall development of the area. It is expected that this development will rub off on the real estate sector as well.

A boon for the region

While Mopa Airport is located on the boundary between Goa and Maharashtra, the present Dabolim Airport, which is a part of the Indian Navy's INS Hansa and handles civilian aircraft, is located close to Vasco town in south Goa. The Dabolim Airport can currently handle 8.5 MPPA in terms of both domestic and foreign travellers. Although this airport was built in the Portuguese era in the year 1955, a new terminal building was added in the year 2013.
