On the sidelines of Oracle CloudWorld Tour (Mumbai), discusses with BW Businessworld's Rohit Chintapali Oracle's India play, H1 FY25 performance and AI. Excerpts
Could you give us a perspective on how important India is for Oracle in 2025?
We have been operating in India for the last 32 years and have witnessed the scale of change in technology modernisation among enterprises. Today, we employ 50,000 people across different functions including sales, marketing, consulting, solution engineering, cloud engineering, product, product development, support services, finance and many other functions. India houses the largest workforce for Oracle outside of our headquarters in the US. We operate out of 18 offices and nine development centres and we have two cloud regions. We can cater to India's public sector, private sector and whosoever needs it, including SMBs and startups.
How does Oracle's growth in India compare to its performance in other regions globally?
Our growth in India has been consistent for years and we have been recognised repeatedly as top contributor across Japan and Asia Pacific for the last many years now. This growth is visible across all business segments. Globally, Oracle is the fastest-growing hyperscaler and we are seeing lots of momentum here in India. In first half of FY25 (H1), we added several new customers. We saw significant wins in artificial intelligence (AI) during the first half.
How is the public sector business performance?
