How will you leverage the utility patent for the growth of the company and the rice farming sector?
Marut Drones acquisition of the utility patent for its direct seeding drone device, developed in collaboration with Prof. Jayashankar Telangana State Agriculture University (PJTSAU), marks a significant milestone in agricultural innovation. This patent recognises Marut’s pioneering multi-nozzle aerial seed dispensing device, a technology validated by PJTSAU for its effectiveness in enhancing rice production.
By optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of seed-sowing processes, Marut’s patented system revolutionises rice farming practices, particularly in addressing labour shortages and economic viability.
The utility patent not only validates the reliability and efficacy of Marut’s technology but also underscores its potential to transform rice cultivation at the grassroots level. By reducing on-farm manual labour through drone technology, Marut aims to overcome persistent challenges faced by farmers, such as labour shortages due to rapid urbanisation. Moreover, Marut’s direct seeding drone serves as a multiutility attachment, enabling farmers to utilise drones not only for pesticide application and spraying but also for direct seeding, thereby accelerating Return on Investment (RoI).
Our direct seeding drone offers several advantages for rice farmers, including a remarkable 92 per cent reduction in water usage and enhanced operational efficiency. The National Livestock Mission is one of several government programmes aimed at raising livestock productivity. In line with government objectives, contract farming allows farmers to secure guaranteed prices and markets. The Model Contract Farming Act is one example of a reform that seeks to establish fair and open standards for contract farming. In India contract livestock farming is a boon for both farmers and agribusinesses, signalling a sea change in the agricultural industry. This approach is poised to become a fundamental component of India's agricultural economy in 2025 and beyond by guaranteeing financial security for farmers and catering to the increasing demand for animal products. To get a more detailed view of the contract livestock farming sector in India, AgroSpectrum had an exclusive conversation with Shan Kadavil, Co-Founder of Fresh to Home. The company posted a yearly revenue run rate of around Rs 850 crore in FY 2024. Compared to their FY23 revenue of about Rs 110.3 crore, which resulted in a loss of Rs 409.5 crore, this was a huge increase.
