Bridging the knowledge gap

Find out more about how Torqn Enterprise is transforming equipment and safety collaboration.

Bridging the knowledge gap

In industries where every second of downtime costs thousands, ensuring knowledge is shared, structured, and accessible is more than just a convenience — it's a necessity.

Yet, in mining, construction, and heavy industries, much of that knowledge is still trapped in emails, lost in group chats, or disappears when an experienced worker leaves.

For company owners overseeing multiple sites and workforces, this challenge is compounded by distance, inconsistent documentation, and the limitations of conventional communication tools.

But a new approach is taking shape — one designed to capture, organise, and share critical operational knowledge in a way that reduces downtime, improves safety, and enhances workforce collaboration.

The problem with traditional knowledge sharing

In many operations, the most valuable knowledge doesn't come from manuals — it comes from the people in the field: the mechanic who's seen a specific fault on a CAT D11 a dozen times, the electrician who knows the quirks of a particular conveyor system, or the operator who's mastered getting a stubborn longwall shearer back online.

Yet, despite its importance, this knowledge often remains undocumented or scattered across different platforms.

Engineering managers might rely on WhatsApp groups, maintenance teams might exchange tips over the radio, and safety alerts might only exist in email chains that never reach the right people in time.

This lack of structure leads to costly repeat issues, safety incidents that could have been avoided, and inefficiencies that impact the bottom line.

As Torqn co-founder Troy McDonald explains, the same mistakes are being made over and over again, not because people don't care, but because the knowledge needed to avoid them isn't easily accessible.
