THE PROSPECT OF THE SIX-time premier class champion, Marc Márquez (Ducati Lenovo Team), completing one of the greatest comeback stories of MotoGP, let alone sporting history, is nearly within reach, and at the San Marino Grand Prix, coming out on top wasn't going to be an easy feat. Home hero Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) took pole position after a closely contested qualifying session, with Alex Márquez (Gresini Racing) lining up second and the 2021 champion, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP), in third. Marc Márquez had to settle for fourth place on the grid. Impressively, Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) had his best qualifying result on the factory Honda with a sixth-place starting position.
