Mahindra's vision 2027

Mahindra set sights on the global market with their most versatile platform to date - the NU_IQ. From ICE to hybrids and everything in between, and agnostic of size. Dipayan Dutta gives you the full preview
On India's 79th Independence Day, Mumbai played host to what could be remembered as Mahindra's most ambitious statement yet. At its Freedom NU event, the company didn't just unveil a new platform; it showcased a mindset.
The NU_IQ modular platform — the bedrock of Mahindra's SUV plans for the next decade — promises to propel the homegrown SUV maker into a global league it has long coveted. And the concepts built on it? Bold, evocative, and unashamedly future-facing.
From Vision.T to Vision. X, the four SUV concepts preview an entirely new design language, powered by an equally radical technical foundation. The first production models hit roads in 2027, but make no mistake — Mahindra is already redrawing the SUV playbook.
At the heart of this strategy is NU_IQ, Mahindra’s most versatile architecture yet. It is a monocoque-based departure from the ladder-frame DNA underpinning icons like the Thar and Scorpio-N, but make no mistake, this isn’t a compromise on ruggedness. In fact, it’s the opposite. What stands out is that this new platform is powertrain-agnostic, capable of supporting petrol, diesel, hybrid, and fully electric SUVs. It’s been engineered to handle front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, left-hand drive, and right-hand drive formats, opening doors to markets Mahindra has never tapped before — from Europe to South America, and beyond.
