In the home of Dhirendra Singh, the MLA of Jewar, love for animals isn't just a gesture—it's a way of life. The family shares a deep, genuine bond with both stray and pet animals, treating them not as outsiders, but as cherished members of their household. It's a common sight to see his wife gently feeding their pets.

SHARING FAMILY BOND WITH ANIMALS

The fur babies roam freely and dwell peacefully within the premises. What's most heartwarming is that children are growing up in this nurturing environment, surrounded by animals, absorbing compassion, responsibility and empathy. The home resonates with a sense of shared belonging between humans and animals—a beautiful ambience where kindness is lived, not taught, and where love for the voiceless is naturally woven into the family’s values. Boishali Sinha unveils a treasure trove of poignant insights as well as deeply thought-provoking observations in this exclusive interview with Dhirendra Singh.

imageBuddy Life: What first sparked your love for dogs? Was there a special moment or pet that started it all?

Dhirendra Singh: Growing up in a farmer's household, animals were not just part of life—they were part of the family. In our fields and homes, ghee, doodh, dahi, and the presence of animals like cows, buffaloes and of course, dogs, shaped our way of living. Dogs especially held a unique place-guarding our homes, playing with the children and often being the first to understand our mood.

My bond with dogs began early, but over the years, it has grown into something deeper—a truly symbiotic relationship. Dogs don't ask for much, just a little care, and in return they give their full loyalty. That kind of unconditional companionship leaves a mark. Today, I live with eight dogs, and our home is always open to strays, whom we take in as part of our extended family. My love for dogs has never been about owning them—it's about living with them, understanding them, and sharing space with dignity and mutual respect.
