What did the dog do for its daily wage some 1200 years ago, when it served its Viking masters in Sweden? Very carefully and deftly, herd cows, is what they did, hence earning them the name of Vallhund, translated as herding dog. These little guys look like Corgis a tad and have come to gain some popularity since their revival in the 1940s, being recognised in about 10 countries worldwide, some of which even include Portugal and Japan.

Today, the breed has emerged a doting companion with a high level of affection and an even higher level of energy to expend.
