When you think of Shania Twain, she’s one of the few A-list singers whose music has been more of a talking point than her personal life. And yet she has lived through one of the most fascinating romantic rollercoasters in celebrity history.

Speaking to the US media ahead of her Las Vegas residency this year, Shania paid tribute to her husband of nine years, Frederic Thiebaud – and the unusual way their marriage began.

Shania married Fred in 2011 – after his wife Marie-Anne cheated on him with Shania’s husband Robert “Mutt” Lange throughout the early 2000s.

When their affair was exposed, Shania and Frederic sought comfort in each other – eventually developing feelings.

Acknowledging their bizarre beginnings, Canadian Shania, 54, laughed as she described the situation as “so beautifully twisted”.
