Walking out of the spiritualist church, I felt a tap on my shoulder.

Turning around, I saw the medium who’d been giving messages standing in front of me.

‘You have the gift,’ she said. ‘You should join us in circle.’

‘O-OK, I stammered, keen to get away. I raced after my friends.

‘Are you going to join the psychic circle?’ my friends asked.

‘Of course not!’ I scoff ed. Truth be told, I knew I had a psychic gift – but at 18 years old, I was frightened by it.

Instead, I got on with my life. I got married, had three children, and joined the police force.
