Imogen Simmonds: Racing Star

RUN Singapore

|

December 2019/January 2020

Imogen Simmonds made the multisport world sit up and take notice when she won her first pro title at the 2017 Ironman 70.3 in Phuket. The 26-year-old was in Singapore recently to conduct a workshop and we found the chance to chat with her.

Imogen Simmonds: Racing Star

What inspires you to race in triathlon? Were you always a sporty person?

I was born in Hong Kong and spent most of my childhood there, and now I officially live in Geneva, Switzerland, although much of my year is spent living and training in Phuket, Thailand. I was a competitive swimmer and lacrosse player in school teams previously, and took part in my first triathlon when I was 10 years old for fun. In 2014, I tried my hand at it again when I represented my university at a triathlon meet.

How did you get into professional sport?
