So India has been installed as favourites for the Test series against Australia. On more than one count - except past record of course for India have never won a Test series Down Under in eleven visits dating back to 1947-48 – this seems to be a fair enough prediction. India are ranked No 1 while Australia are No 5. In the absence of the banned trio of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft Australia are considered to be weak opposition but to be candid it is only their batting that is affected by the unavailability of the three. The bowling is unaffected and here the Australians are well served by the quartet of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon. Even against the formidable Indian batting line-up they could be expected to strike at regular intervals. In home conditions on the pacy and bouncy tracks the pace trio could be quite a handful and it will be important for the Indian batsmen to play them with
