New Bhoy Timothy looking forward to life with the Hoops

DETERMINATION and seizing opportunities have been the tools which Timothy Weah has used to craft the beginnings of what promises to be an exciting career, and the young striker’s focus is now on delivering on the big stage as he becomes a Celt.

The Paris Saint-Germain striker became Brendan Rodgers’ second signing of the January transfer window after agreeing a loan deal with Celtic until the end of the season.

Weah travelled to Glasgow last month to discuss the possibility of a loan move once the transfer window opened and, after speaking with the manager and seeing Celtic Park, it proved to be an easy decision.

“Just after mid-December, I got the invitation to come and meet with Celtic after learning they were interested,” he said in an exclusive interview with the Celtic View. “I came along and saw the stadium. It was empty when I was there so I got a feel for it and was able to picture how amazing it would look when it’s full of fans.

“I had a meeting with Brendan Rodgers and he explained the role I would be expected to play if I came. He said he wanted me to play as a No.9 and help the team by making runs into spaces and stretching the game.

“It was an amazing meeting and I fell in love with the club. I knew this was where I wanted to come. I’m so excited to be here. I feel like the manager has a great plan for me and will help me develop as a player.
