Storey is lost for words as Paralympic GB complete a historic Games

Veteran breaks record as GB’s Paralympians top the cycling medal table in Tokyo, reports James Shrubsall

Great Britain topped the cycling medal table and Dame Sarah Storey became Britain’s greatest Paralympian of all time as the Tokyo Games drew to a close on Sunday. Storey had won gold medals in the individual pursuit, the road time trial, and the C4-5 road race to take her total to 17 golds and become Britain’s greatest.
“I don’t know if it’s sunk in,” Storey told BBC Radio 5 Live after her record-breaking medal in the road race. “It’s something everyone has been talking about since Rio when it became a mathematical possibility with me doing three more events in Tokyo.
“It’s one of those situations where I don’t know whether it will sink in when I get home, or whether it will be in a few months or even never at all,” she added.
