Dutchman proves tough to beat in the mountains

Despite pulling on the Giro d’Italia leader’s jersey with an imperious performance last week at just 26, according to his coach, Tom Dumoulin still has room to improve.

“He’s still a Grand Tour rider in development,” his coach Aike Visbeek explained. “He’s performed under pressure in Holland both in the Giro and the Tour, he’s been in the lead in the Vuelta where he’s seen the pressure and seen the tricks. He’s matured and he has more in his bag of experience.”
