Sensex Scales 39k Peak In Bull Run

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex surged by another 1,075 points on Monday as the bull run continued for the second consecutive day with animal spirits staying high following the 10% cut in the corporate tax rate on Friday.

Gains in banking stocks and blue chips such as Maruti Suzuki, L&T and ITC saw the Sensex soaring by 1,075.41 points or 2.8 per cent to 39,090.03, a level not seen since July 17. The index has gained 2,996.56 points or 8.30 per cent in the last two sessions. The market capitalisation (m-cap) of BSE-listed companies has increased by Rs 10.35 lakh crore to Rs 1,48,89,652.44 crore in the two trading sessions. Top gainers in the Sensex pack included Axis Bank, Kotak Bank, ICICI Bank, HDFC twins and SBI, rallying up to 8.70 per cent.
