A HANDFUL of beneficiaries of the government’s skilling schemes discussed on Thursday how the training gave them a headstart in transforming their lives, with some of them planning to set up their own ventures and create jobs.

Sehran Sharma, a retail assistant at fashion brand Uniqlo, shared how a 45-day retail associate course with ILFS at Okhla Phase 1 helped her get into the fashion industry. “I had several responsibilities after marriage… My husband was jobless for a year after an accident…My mother met a mobilization team and got to know about ILFS at Okhla Phase I. I was always interested in fashion industry and hence, I enrolled for a retail associate course,” she said at Mail Today Skills & Entrepreneurship Summit 2019.
