India’s showing at world meet gives fresh confidence of Olympic medals

INDIAN boxing is touching new heights and the national federation (BFI) needs to be praised for all the success. This is the first time that the nation has won two medals – silver and bronze – at the same edition of men’s world boxing championships.

Amit Panghal and Manish Kaushik have given a hope to the nation that Olympic medals can be achieved in Tokyo. The two boxers have registered their names for the Olympic qualifiers with the stunning show in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

The last time India won a medal – bronze - in Olympics was in 2008 Beijing Olympic when Vijender Singh lost 5–8 to Cuba’s Emilio Correa in the semi-finals.
