Manifestos plea to parties as 83% say devices are 'harmful'

THE majority of parents believe the Government should ban smartphones for under-16s.

Some 83% of parents said they felt the devices were "harmful" to children and young people, according to a survey.

Parentkind is calling on all political parties to put a ban on smartphones for children in their manifestos.

It comes as Esther Ghey, mother of murdered teenager Brianna Ghey, is campaigning for an age limit for smartphone usage and stricter controls on access to social media apps.
