Set-piece Supremacy Has Ravers Rocking On

CALDY head coach Matt Cairns attributed his side’s hard-fought victory over Fylde to their dominance at the scrum and lineout as the hosts reduced the deficit at the top of the National League 2 North table.

Cairns’ players battled past a table-topping Fylde side to move to within one point of their opponents in what is shaping into an absorbing battle at the summit of the division.

And the Caldy boss was over the moon with his team’s imperious and message-disseminating performance.

“The game showed our dominance in the set scrummage and lineout and we could have potentially profited more from this,” he said.

“That said I am delighted by the performance of the group who are working hard and keep showing their desire to progress – there is plenty more to come.”

Fylde head coach Warren Spragg, however, was left to rue his side’s inability to extend their advantage at the top of the table and accepted his players were toppled by a superior team on the day.
