TURBINES STOP TURNING AT CITY

OXFORD City created a slice of history as they booked a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy for the first time in their history, with victory over Peterborough Sports.

The away side bowed out of the competition having embarked on a historical run themselves, and certainly played their part in an entertaining encounter at the Velocity Stadium.

It was to be the Turbines who came out of the blocks quickest as they forced a dangerous free-kick just outside the area in the opening 30 seconds.

Lewis Hilliard stood over the set-piece, but could only fire his attempt straight into the wall and the loose ball was cleared.

The Hoops took control of the match, despite the early pressure, and the first real effort came after 11 minutes as Harvey Bradbury fired over the crossbar as the ball fell to him from a corner.
