Shots Fire Warning To MACC

ALDERSHOT TOWN assistant manager James Rowe praised the maturity of his team after they recovered from a terrible start to claim all three points at Leyton Orient.

Macauley Bonne fired the O’s in front with 19 seconds played, but Shamir Fenelon equalised on the stroke of half-time for Gary Waddock’s side.

Will Evans put the Shots ahead two minutes after the break before George Elokobi levelled for Orient with 53 on the clock.

The match had been of the highest quality to this point, and there was still time for one final goal as Adam McDonnell managed to find the net with a low strike which squirmed under the body of Dean Brill with 14 minutes remaining.

It ensured Aldershot claimed the win and they are now a single point behind National League leaders Macclesfield Town, who could only draw 1-1 at home to Torquay United.

Rowe said: “I think we’ve shown maturity as a group because we had similar circumstances at Macclesfield (2-0 defeat on September 30) earlier in the season where we conceded in the first minute.
