KING’S LYNN Town struck a potentially decisive blow in the title race as victory over second-placed York City opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table.

The confrontation between the league’s top two sides had been billed as a defining moment in the race for top spot – and this outcome leaves them with a slight cushion over the Minstermen and with two games in hand.

Adam Marriott scored the only goal of the game midway through the second half but it was home debutant Simon Power, on loan from Premier League Norwich City, who impressed the bumper 4,000 crowd with an energetic display.
