Gevaro's In Free-flow As Spireites March On

ON-LOAN winger Gevaro Nepomuceno struck the only goal as Chesterfield pulled five points clear of the relegation zone with a huge victory over inconsistent Notts County.

The Curaçao international, on loan with the Spireites from Oldham Athletic until January, sealed the points with a well-executed first-half volley as John Sheridan’s improved side clinched a fourth win in five games having previously only won once since April.

That, coupled with a resolute defensive display which kept out a dangerous Notts County side, would indicate a turn around in fortunes for the Derbyshire side but Sheridan is not so sure it’s that cut and dried.

“I don’t see it as us turning a corner, I see it as us just picking up a bit of consistency and putting in the performances I know we can,” the Spireites boss said.

“I believe that with the quality of players that we have, we should be fighting up near the top. We’re not there at the minute but the performances are getting better and better.
