Skipper Francomb scored his fourth goal of the season just after the hour mark as Town extended their unbeaten run to nine games, and gave themselves a perfect pick-me-up ahead of next Sunday’s visit of Leeds United in the FA Cup.

They were indebted to Glenn Morris, who made a string of fine saves to ensure his side held on to their slender advantage.

That made it a frustrating afternoon for Bolton, who also saw Reiss Greenidge sent off in second-half added time for a second bookable offence, and Yems was full of praise for his men.

“We rode our luck at times. But we worked hard and did all the right things,” Yems said.
