Lowe and Jephcott take home awards

- Tom Blackett

DOUBLE NOD TO THE PILGRIMS' PROGRESS

PLYMOUTH stormed into the thick of the League Two promotion battle in January – and it’s been rewarded with a trophy double.

Striker Luke Jephcott has been named the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month, while his manager Ryan Lowe picked up the manager accolade.

Jephcott made a remarkable impact for the Pilgrims with five goals, including braces against Scunthorpe and Carlisle, on his recall from NonLeague Truro City.

The 20-year-old’s efforts helped Plymouth collect 13 points in six games across the calendar month.

“I am going to use this as a stepping stone to really kick on in the second half of the season, hopefully get a couple more goals, and ultimately get us promotion,” he said.

Manager Lowe guided Bury to promotion from League Two last season and is determined to repeat the feat with the Devon club this term, but he insists it will need to be a collective effort.
