After ransacking the residence, the robbers made off with $10 million in jewelry, and a physically unharmed but thoroughly traumatized Kim somehow managed to free herself before running to the balcony and screaming for help.

When initial news of the robbery spread, fans were grateful that Kim had survived her harrowing ordeal. But as details began to emerge — along with what appeared to be holes in Kim’s version of events — so have nagging suspicions that the heist could have been faked. The reason? Insiders say that Kim may desperately need the insurance money on her jewelry to help pay off her husband Kanye West’s mountain of debt — and if it turns out she is part of a fraud scheme, it could mean years behind bars for the reality superstar!

“From start to finish, Kim’s account is full of points that don’t make any sense,” an insider tells Star. “Why wouldn’t she have locked up her millions of dollars’ worth of jewelry in the hotel safe? Why didn’t we hear about any signs of a struggle in her apartment? And how did she get out of her plastic restraints by herself without a knife, which is incredibly hard to do — not to mention that she didn’t have any reported bruising or injuries,” an insider tells
