Davis has become invaluable player
Dolphin Digest
|October 2019
It was no real surprise when the Dolphins gave offensive lineman Jesse Davis a contract extension just a few days before the regular season began.

If anyone on this team had earned a nice raise, it was certainly Davis.
He is a feel-good story on a team right now lacking many of those. A story about an undrafted rookie back in 2016 who was twice cut in the league before landing a spot on the Dolphins practice squad and now finds himself as the senior member of this line and a player as versatile as any this franchise has seen.
After starting at right tackle, left guard and right guard in 2017 he played every down at right guard in 2018. Then he began this preseason as the starting right tackle until, that is, Laremy Tunsil was traded to Houston.
So the man for all positions was moved to left tackle for the season opener against Baltimore and stayed right there against the Patriots. Who knows how long he’ll play there. But that three-year extension worth a reported $15 million certainly will ease any anxiety he might have.
“I’m truly blessed that things have worked out so well,” said Davis, one of only three offensive linemen in team history to start at four different positions. “Being versatile has been such an important part of my career. I know how important it is for me to be ready for the next challenge.”
