Charlton Clearly Worth Taking A Chance

When he got two sacks in his first two games with the Dolphins, Taco Charlton did more than accomplish something that hadn’t been done in more than a decade.

Charlton Clearly Worth Taking A Chance

He showed exactly the kind of production that many had expected from him when he was in the 2017 NFL draft out of the University of Michigan.

It also provided a quick return on what was a low-risk, high-reward move by the Dolphins: claiming Charlton off waivers from the Dallas Cowboys.

Things clearly didn’t pan out for Charlton in Dallas, which is why they released him, but the hope for Charlton and the Dolphins is that he fulfills his vast potential in Miami.

“For me, I’ve always wanted to coach Taco, from when I met him at the combine,” said defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who was defensive line coach of the New York Giants at the time. “I say to him probably every day, ‘I’ve been waiting to coach you. I’m happy to see you and get to coach you.’ “I think he’s really bought in so far in terms of what we’re asking him to do, and then obviously his skill set. I think from what I knew of him and from what I know of him now, he’s a competitor. He’s been blessed with a skill set that – again, any time you’re having success, you’re going to want to push that anyway. He’s a competitor and he has a skill set.”

When you picture guys who just have the look of a prototypical pass rusher, they look an awful lot like Taco Charlton.

He’s 6-6 and he’s got the long arms to go with that height.
