With six children under the age of 14, you can only begin to imagine the juggling act that is Lauren Newton’s day to day.

After welcoming her sixth child, son Alby, with husband, Olympic swimmer Matt Welsh, 44, last August, 40-year-old Lauren’s world became more beautifully busy than ever before.

Now, the mum to sons Sam, 13, Monty, 5, and Alby, 11 months, and daughters Eva, 12, Lola, 9, and Perla, 2, is sharing her triumphs, challenges and learnings as New Idea’s new parenting columnist...

When I had my first child, Sam, 13 years ago, I never realised just how much I would love motherhood and how it would change me. These years are by far the best of my life, and even the messy, hard and difficult days I wouldn’t change for the world.
